Jody Tabner Thayer
Clinical Social WorkerI create a compassionate and collaborative relationship to enable people to relieve suffering and embrace wellbeing, connectedness and purpose. Working from a psychodynamic understanding, together we gain insight about the patterns that keep you from living your best life, and help you work toward change and acceptance.
I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical, and hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Catholic University. I completed advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and supervision at the Washington School of Psychiatry, and now teach in its Fundamental Concepts and Techniques of Dynamic Psychotherapy program. I am currently studying with the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. After a career practicing law, I joined Willow Oak Therapy Center a decade ago, and also served as Executive Director and Clinical Director for more than six years.
I work with individuals, couples and families presenting with a variety of concerns, including mood disorders, unhealthy relationships, grief and loss, intimacy and infidelity, and trauma.
