Hannah Thiessen is a licensed master social worker (LMSW) providing virtual-only traditional talk therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) at Willow Oak Therapy. She has completed her Master of Social Work with a specialization in behavioral health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Wake Forest University. Hannah is pursuing her EMDR certification and has already completed Part 1 and 2 of her training from an EMDRIA-approved provider.
While Hannah enjoys working with clients of all ages, she has a special heart for adolescents and helping them navigate the complicated world they are growing up in today. She practices EMDR under consultation, which is one of the most researched and effective treatments for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to support children, adolescents, and adults in their healing journey.
Hannah aims to develop a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship with her clients to give them a safe and empathic space to process painful emotions and experiences. She uses cognitive behavioral, person-centered, solution-focused, and mindfulness techniques within her client’s faith and worldview to help them enact change in their lives.
